RE: Controlling mosquitoes when on stand??
Hey Mate! Gone on a walkabout lately? LOL
I have always used Deep Woods OFF. The deer don' t seem to mind the smell as I' ve had several within feet of me, downwind, and it keeps all the critters away from me. I don' t over do it, just spray it on the tops of my socks that stick above my boots, on my waist, on my wrists, and around my neck. I usually put a bit on my hat too to keep them away from my face.
PS, what part of ND is Wilton in? I was stationed in the late 70' s at Minot, and have some friends in Wahpeton.

RE: Controlling mosquitoes when on stand??
I just bought a thermo cell. Seems to work pretty good. I took it out with me in the woods the other day and sat down. It wasnt long before I was covered in mosquitos. I turned on the thermo cell and in a minute they were gone. When the wind picked up a few returned but they would never land on me. They just sort of buzzed around me. The Thermo cell is small and even comes in camo. Im definatley going to be bringing one with me this fall.

Benhuntin, that Therma Cell sounds pretty cool. Is it anything the deer could ever smell? I' m not sure how it works I guess?
Hear in East Tx, the mosquitoes can be bad all the way into November depending on the temps. October is a guarentee that you will be covered with them, especially if hunting in creek and river bottoms. I tried several products but they all smelled like either alcohol or just plain bug spray. I then bought a can of Scent Shield " No Stinkin' Bugs" spray and it is great. It smells just like dirt and it really keeps the bugs off. I don' t like using too much because I don' t want my cap, gloves, or leafy suit to smell like it, since I don' t wash them between every trip. It' s worked really good for me though.

RE: Controlling mosquitoes when on stand??
here in Fla. the sheeters are awsom and the Thermo cell are whats happening.I have three of them , one for me , one for my wife , and one as a spare case one breaks.
Wal-mart super center here has them(cheap) most places the are $30.00 and $6.00 to $9.00 for a refill. W/M has them for $20.00 and $3.00 for refills.
If you see them , get it then(" they don' t stay in the store long)"
It takes a few min for them to work, but if the sketters are there you need one.I would rather go to the woods without my bow , than without my thermacell.
www.thermacell.com will get you there.good luck.
