Well practicing I shoot all distances up to about 60 yds, cant hit anything at that distance but it helps me to better understand my bow and watch my arrowflight. I can shoot pretty accurately at 40yds. But at the momemt of truth in the wild, in my stand, wind conditions, debris in the way and adrenaline all affecting my shot, I dont like shooting over 25yds at deer.

I have a 20yrd range at home,a 55 yrd indoor range at a friends wharehouse plus at the club we have field targets out to 80+ yards I practice at all ranges.
But hunting altho I can hit a 1/2 business card at 50 yrds I prefeer my shots from 10 to 20 yards.
I like to test myself and see just how close I can get to my prey.
IMO the closer the better.

I practice to 50 and have shot deer at 40 yards in the open, when I' ve been on the edge of fields. However, sometimes the woods can really screw up my confidence and depth perception when I got a deer out there at 40 and along the arrow path there are alot of trees between the deer and myself. I may have a clear shot but all the trees seem to make the deer look smaller and further away. I' ve never shot a deer past 30 yards in the woods.

40-yards max for tuning on the range. Most likely 30-yards max in the field, with most shots 25-yards and less due to field conditions.
Regardless of practice yardage, there is no such thing as an easy shot regardless of less yardage than what was practiced on the range.

Practice out to 60 yards here. Like others here I' ve found the longer distance will show you flaws in your shooting that may not be visible at 20 or even 40 yards. I have the utmost confidence in a shot out to 40 yards at a calm whitetail. Hitting the mark at 60 gives me confidence and when you' re faced with a shot in the field you had better have no questions going on in your head.

i would say 30 would be my max if in a hunting situation , but thats only if i practiced it more. I am positivley comfortable with a shot out to 25, if a deer comes from 0-25 yards from me and i have a clear shot , dead deer. But u have to think of ont thing , even 30 yards is really far in the woods out of a stand. next tiem ur in ur stand , try to range somethin 30 yards and imagine shooting at a deer at that distance , ull think twice. But there id nothing wrong with taking the shot , it jsut seems farther in the woods. But if u practice it enough TAKE IT.
