Wisconsin Opening Weekend Buck 9/18
Opening weekend of bow season started off pretty well. I overslept the morning hunt, the afternoon i had 3 bucks come in, and 3 does. One of which came directly under my stand.
The next morning the alarm didnt go off at all... That afternoon I went to the same stand i was in the day before....in the pouring rain. But the time i got in my stand i was soaking wet! I put on my harness and was about to sit down when i saw a decent buck about 60 yards out.
He ended up coming into 30 yards and bedding down. He was a "boarder-line" buck so i just watched him. 2 hours later he stood up and started walking sort of in my direction and behind him came a slightly smaller 8 point buck, and after him a doe. I had then decided that if the first buck came within 10 yards i would shoot him. After about 20 minutes i had the smaller buck, and the doe within 5 yards of my stand, but the bigger buck was about 17 yards. He walked straight at the stand until he was about 7 yards out, he then turned and trotted right back to where he came at about 17 or 18 yards. he then gave be a hard quartering away shot and i slid the arrow right thru him. It exited right behind the opposite shoulder and he fell within 70 yards. All in a complete downpour!
I didn't get any photos of the deer in the field since it was raining so hard, so i got one in the driveway the next day. It had been cool all week, but on monday the temps got into the 70's and we had to get this deer processed ASAP so i apologize in advanced for the picture.
He scored right about 110 gross, and 100 typical.
main frame 8 with a split brow to make a total of 9 points.

The funny thing is I've always shot more bucks in the morning! including my personal best! But i won't complain about the missed mornings!
I've still got another buck tag, so hopefully i'll be posting another thread about a monster!
