CHEWING TOBACCO!

CHEWING TOBACCO!
I was just wondering if any uses smokeless tobacco while on stand? I only chew during hunting season most of the time. I picked up a pouch of Red Man the other day, and it reminded me of one time when I was a kid.
I was probably around 14 years old, and I had been hunting for a few years with no deer. And to be honest, I probably didnt have much of a clue as to what I was doing. Well I had decided to move my stand to a new spot above an old stip mine field(my stand was a 45 pound Gator Climber)and got set up around 8 am. It had took atleast an hour and a half to get up there with that thing on my back!!! So anyway, I finally get set up watching the feild that was about 70yrds down below me. I leaned against the tree and threw in a chaw of Beech Nut Tobacco. Every few minutes I would lean over and spit from my stand (I thought I was real cool). Around 10 am I spoted what I thought was a doe on the ridge across from me about 300 yrds away or so. I grabbed my grunt call and bleated a few times, it never looked. As I said, I didnt know how to make things happen at the time, so I can remember thinking in my mind " maybe if I grunt at her she' ll get horny and come my way!" When I grunted the deer completly circled the feild, and came striaght to my location, I then noticed it was actually a button buck. I know now that he was coming to see just who was over there with the little lady deer, but I had no clue then why he came. Anyway, when he didnt see any other deer he dropped his nose into the leaves, and after a moment I noticed that he was LICKING the tabacco spit!! The story ends with the deer catching me draw, me slicing my hand open with my broadhead, throwing my treestand over the hill instead of carrying it down, and swearing off hunting for good (and you know I was right back out the next day![8D]). I' ve learned alot of important lessons like that along the way. But what that story was about was the fact that that deer ATE my tabacco spit!! Has anyone else seen anything similair???
p.s--I no longer chew in the stand do to scent purposes!

RE: CHEWING TOBACCO!
To be honest with you I don' t think chewing will cause you to spook deer with the sent. I always have a dip of copenhagen in my lip, and have never had a deer spook from it. I practice sent free hunting myself and don' t have aa issue with chew as long as you don' t spit. The reason the deer licked your spit was leaf tobacco(beech nut, red man etc.) are very sweet and sugary.
