How fast will you hunt?

RE: How fast will you hunt?
I shoot the same arrow for hunting every year. The only thing that changes is the bow. This years rig is going in the mid 280`s. That is where they usually end up. It is a combo that works good for me. Fast enough and still quiet.

Not sure how fast my bow is shooting, but know its over 250 or 260. Shooting at 65 lbs. with carbons and 100 grain broadhead. I am not worried about speed so much as accuracy.
Guys shoot big game with recurves, and back in the mid 80' s a top compound would shoot around 185-200 with passthroughs on animals shooting with fingers.

RE: How fast will you hunt?
I' m going to hunt this year at 306 fps. I began practicing with a 370 grain arrow with the intent of going a little heavier and slower for hunting, but I' m shooting so well I don' t see the need. Using a Bowtech VFT, 70 lbs, 29" and 370 grain Gold Tip XT w/ 100 grain tip. One thing' s for sure, the speed will make you a better shooter, if you practice that is!

After clicking on this thread and reading the original post I realized that I had not chronoed either of my two bows yet. That actually surprised me to some extent as I like to know what KE I am generating with my setups.
If I had to hazard a guess I would say that with the Rhino I am probably shooting in the 265-275 fps range and with the Patriot I am probably somewhere around 285 fps or so.
