Shoot from both, start on the ground and then move up. Rack is right suggesting shooting from an actual stand. Big difference drawing a bow standing on a 2' x2' square, as opposed to solid ground.

yea i usually try to mix it up a bit with shooting from elevation and off the ground. but when u practice from elevation how close is too close to practice or how close would u shoot at a deer? straight up and down?

Do yourself a favor if you are going to practice from your tree. Find someone to shag your arrows for you. It can get to a pain in the arse getting in and out of the treestand every 6-12 arrows. Maybe Im just getting too old[:' (]
