Not meant to start a war here , but I found that statement to be absurd!

If your into the commercialization of hunting whitetails , like forking over the big buck$ to hunt the big bucks that have been well managed their entire lives , then No! Canada has nothing on Illinois.

If your into the pristine beauty of the big north woods , the fact that the big bucks got that way because of the vastness of the land , the thrill of the hunt knowing that if you bag a trophy it' s genetics weren' t purchased from a game farm in another state , then Canada has everything over Illinois!

I compare it to trout fishing. I' d rather catch a 5 lb native brook trout than a 20 lb stocked brown trout.

I apologize if I offended you c903. I was raised in Kankakee and went to Bishop McNamara High School. I' m sure you have heard of us because we won a couple of High School Football State Championships in the 80' s. Where I grew up I had cornfields in front of me and bean fields behind me. Unfortunately I did not take up hunting, especially bow hunting until about 7 years ago after I received my MBA (time and money became available). Because of my passion for hunting and the outdoors, I have made it a goal to travel this wonderful land of OURS and hunt as much of it as possible. By no means was I bashing Lincoln' s home state of IL. Most of my soon to be in-laws and high school friends are from IL (Chicago).

Rockytop, I appreciate your support. I can assure you MOST residents of IL are kind, thoughtful, considerate, and most of all welcoming!!!!!!!! So don' t hold the state of IL responsible for c903' s welcoming words.

I would also like to thank the rest of you for your input. It was very informative and beneficial.
