Default Shot to the Heart (video)

Hey guys....been in a discussion with friends about how deer at a closer proximity are more likely to "jump the string"..... Took my Dad on a bow hunt last weekend in Central NC with my camera. He's been toting a bow to the woods for years, but had not harvested a deer with it until this past weekend. We set up in a ground blind that we put out weeks ago. I knew his shot would be very close proximity and from the ground. He'd practiced and practiced in the backyard from a sitting position..."aim low" was his plan..and he did. Check out the video...this deer was 14 yards and relatively calm. She ducks right into the shot. I uploaded in HD, so you might choose that setting for a better viewing experience.

I took a very similiar shot last week and hit pure shoulder. Arrow did not penetrate and I lost her. If she drops and the leg comes back instead of forward like it did in your case it can turn a very good shot into a very bad shot. Regardless, great work by your old man by hitting his mark and taking down a beautiful doe. I can't wait to get my dad his first deer.
