RE: Homemade Deer Mineral Recipe
All deer except for this last one was 2002 this buck is 2001.
Glad some of you are getting results. This is after I think four years of use.
Already had 25 pictures in 30 days of 33 deer with 10 of them for sure bucks from May 10th to June 10th. They have to step up and out of the hole now.
I ended up using 300 lbs last year and made myself stop. Turkey season they finished all of last year up and I just refeshen it up last weekend.

We used it last year and the deer hit it pretty heavy. They dug it out in 2 locations where we had it in the ground and ate a stump that we just pured it on. We renewed 2 of our locations so far and plan to start a new one. I know it is a little late but I hope it' ll still provide the exta nutrients they need.

Where I hunt there is a lot of cattle around so the ranchers have out salt and mineral for their livestock. Deer will use these tubs. Is there anything in this mixture that will draw them to this spot more?

Horntagger, Great Pics!
I' ve used that recipe (minus the stock salt) for about 10 years and it has always worked very well. The only things different I do, is I pour it on a stump instead of the ground, and I replenish it more often. They usually eat it all gone fairly quick. I' m hoping to get a game cam this year to set up on our mineral sites. One thing I have noticed over the years, is that they usually hit our sites at night. Very rarely have I seen them on it during the day. Do you find the same?
