Default Stands-Lone Wolf/Muddy...Lets' compare

Let's compare these:

Muddy stands:
.Hunter Pro(10.5 lbs) and Hunter(12#'s) $150 and $155
.Rated for 300#
.Hunter Pro platform 28"X21"
.Hunter platform 34"X24"
.noisy ratchet strap/hard to use with gloves on-requires two hand operation
.pull spring knobs with Noisy steel pins engaging in metal required to level platform
.no bow holder
.welded platform
.no EZ hang bracket system offered
.no built in brush pockets
.no optional footrests available
. I have heard reports of squeaking from other users; how about you?, I have never sat in one.I have only played with them at stores mounted on telephone poles
Resale value?

Lone Wolf Alpha(14#'s) and Assault(11#'s)
.$219 and $209( $69 more or $59 more expensive then a Muddy)
.Rated for 350#(50# more than Muddy)
. Alpha platform 30"X19"
. Assault platform 27.5"X19.5"
. Quiet pull straps/easy to hang-one hand operation of pull strap
.silent platform leveling
.EZ hang bracket option
.Bow holder
. Solid cast platform which is silent
.optional foot rests available
.built in brush pockets
.High resale value
.Silent use/never squeaks, even in cold weather

I know what works for me. Are you guys happy with your Muddys, or deep down, wish you had sprung the little extra for the LW?

LW...

but if you have the ability to move and climb quietly and sit still, go with the muddy.

I have a LW and it is great.

well... i think its easier for me to climb up a tree and carry a stand more quietly in the woods than my uncle, who is 50 and not in as great physical condition as me. one thing you can't really control though is if you have to stand up in your stand and avoid any noise, especially in cold weather.

But i realize we are talking hang ons in this case. If I were buying a hangon, I would buy a cheaper muddy, unless I relocated that hangon often. If your gonna leave the stand in one spot for the whole season, buy the cheaper one.

Yea, these are for guys like me that NEVER leave their stands out. My setup goes in and out each and every hunt. No theft, weather, or squirrels messing with me.

I like Lone Wolf much better! Easier to put up, and quieter when its there. I have never packed the Muddy, but I have no complaints about the way the Lone Wolf packs. I generally use the Assault, and 4 sticks.

When a tree won't allow the use of my sit and climb, the Assault gets pressed into action! It's an awesome hang-on in every way. That's all I can say.
