How to start a future bowhunter ?
Well I guess I have a future bowhunter on my hands. My son is almost 2 and has started picking up anything he thinks looks like a bow and starts shooting it. He' ll pick up a coat hanger ,calls it his " Bo" and pulls on it making a sound of an arrow flying(swwiishh) and hitting a target (aahh booom).
Seeing as how I got my hands full.......I guess I' ll have to go get him a plastic bow this weekend !
How' d you guys start your kids out in archery ? Is 2 too early? I don' t want to burn him out too young(?) .

It' s not too soon IMO , started my boys around that age. Get em a small bow that he can use easily (even a toy). The most important thing is to make it fun!!! Have seen some take it way too serious and kids lose interest. My boys are now 10 and 12 and well on the way to being phenominal archers. The 12 yr old will give some adults a run for their money, it' s so cool. And they enjoy it now ,ore than ever as it is still FUN!!!!! Good luck and enjoy the ride!!

TWIG69 is right, get a toy bow and let the little one have fun.
I also have children, a daughter 17 and a son 15. When they were young, at around age 4, to introduce them to the sport of hunting, I would take them hunting with me. I tried to make these hunting outings as fun as possible.
I would take a sleeping blanket for them to curl up in and sleep during the pre dawn hour, take a thermos of hot chocolate, cookies, and books or toys.
We would set up in a ground blind and wait for the action to start. When the deer showed, I would wake them.
It was a blast for me and for them, they loved it. My daughter doesnt hunt now but from time to time she askes if she can go, she likes to read while sitting in the woods. She says it reminds her of when she was little. My son is an avid hunter now. He goes with me often and is a great hunting buddy, but in the last few years sports takes up alot of his time. Oh yeah, girls seem to take up alot of his time also.

When my boy was 2, only 6 months ago I found a bow at a dollar store that shot those arrows with the suction cups! He loves it when we shoot mommys baskets of the wall! He laughs and retrieves the arrow and says Daddy, Do!
Mommy isn' t to happy but he loves it!
There never to young!
I have a six month old too that I' m looking forward to teaching!
It' s Awesome!!!
