jjoel,
It isn't quite that simple. A 100 grain bullet, or any bullet for that matter, does its damage because it expands and releases its energy inside the animal to cause massive amounts of tissue damage and shock to the animal.
An arrow kills by hemorrage (darn! I can't think of how that is spelled...I know there is an "H" in there somewhere).
Personally, just about any of the typical arrow/broadhead combinations on the market today will penetrate well enough to cause enough damage to kill the animal. Most states have a limitation on draw weight but not arrow weight...and those limitations are usually around 35-40 lbs.
A specific arrow weight cannot be given because there are other factors such as draw length, draw weight, head design and the tune of the bow that would impact penetration....
I probably confused you more....but I hope this helps some anyway.

Wow that PA guy knows his stuff (except how to spell hemorhage...yes, I looked it up!). I use 100 gr. broadheads and a friend uses 85 gr. Others use 150 gr. Doesn't mean diddly if they aren't razor sharp AND placed properly. It's more important for shot placement (and sharpness) then for how heavy the broadhead is. Used to be the norm was 125 gr. but seems now it is 85 gr.

Actually it is spelled: hemorrhage <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
jjoel to give you an idea of the lower end of the spectrum, I shot my 7 point buck using a bow with a 43lb. draw, a 318 grain arrow with a 26 1/2" draw. I had a clean double lung pass-through from 20 yards.
It doesn't take a powerhouse set up to kill a deer.

It's not the size that matters (LOL). I used 75 grain muzzy's on carbon arrows to take 2 deer this past year on a 65lbs bow drawing at 33". They shot the best out of my setup.

I killed a cow elk when I was 12 at 30 yards with 42lbs. and a 500 grain wood arrows tipped with a RAZOR SHARP Zwicky 2-blade and only had 5 inches of the fethers left in the animal. I cut ribs on both sides. It doesn't take much....but sharp blades and good shots are a MUST!!!!
Good luck,
John

jjoel, the weights you are describing are for broad head weights, not arrow weights. A finnished arrow genneraly weighs between 300 and 700 grns. The decision of what weight broad head to use should have less to do with over all weight and more to do with foc and getting the correct spine on your arrow in my opinion.
