Default Question about arrow weights

I was thinking of switching from alum. arrows to carbon, to pic up a little speed so I can use only one pin while hunting. I am presently shooting a easton xx75 2315. I have a new Reflex Gamegetter with the new cam and a half set at 70lbs wth a 28" draw.My first pin is good to about 22 yards but i would like to go to at least 28 yards. I ran a shaft selector guide on edders.com to see which shaft was right for my bow.It gave me a choice of 7 sizes.I am also switching from a 125 grain broadhead to a 100 grain. The chart said that the 300 carbon evolution and the alum. 2512 super slam arrows both weigh the same, 288 grains (bare shaft). The xx75 2315 weighs 327 grains. that should take about 64 grains off my arrow weight. Will that be enough to reach my goal for my sights? And then which arrow, Carbon or Alluminum? By the way, the only thing on my string is a string loop and leaches.

Carbons are a good choice, but you could also gain speed with a lighter aluminum arrow. I have not had any success using one pin and getting pinpoint accuracy, even up to 290 fps, Im always a little high or low. If pinpoint is not important, try a lighter and sight one pin at 25 or 30 yds. If you are on at 30; you shouldnt be over 3 to 4 inches high at 18 or 20 yds, and only a couple inches low out to maybe 35, that should keep you in the vitals. Most of all, whatever you choose be sure to practice a lot out to and beyond the ranges you feel comfortable.
