RE: How far do you like your shots
I strive for shots of 5-15 yds on the ground, and I' m always pleased when I' m afforded shots even closer. My " real-world" average shot is towards the latter end of that range (or slightly beyond), though.

I prefer a shot to be from 17 to 35 yard' s, I will take the first broadside or quartering away opportunity the deer gives me inside 35 yards without a second thought. Pike

I just don' t know where everyone gets this idea you can' t draw on a deer inside 15 yards? You just have to move a little carefully and at the right time. If I can get them at less than 10 yards I' ll do it. I guess my perfect range is really probably 10-15. I honestly don' t think a BAD shot would be BAD at that range.....slam bam thank you mam. My closest has been a 7 foot shot from behind a 4 inch oak in a horse pasture on the 11th deer in a procession.(I was walking across the field when I saw deer coming into the pasture 200 yards away. I ducked behind this sapling and waited them out) Now, you' ll never convince me you can' t draw on deer if they' re close. Just have everything quieted down, lubed and ready to go and move at the right time. Give me CLOSE anytime. Sure I' ll shoot them further and feel fine doing it.... but it' s darn hard to mess up a 10 yard shot if you get to full draw.
