20 to 30 yards, too close & the animals I' ve shot will spook more and it' s harder to get drawn. Not that I wouldn' t like them closer out of a ground blind or something & I don' t use tree stands.

I prefer 15 to 20 but usually end up with 10 to 15. And nothing is a slam dunk in my book, if I start thinking with that mentality, I won' t concentrate on the shot as much.

I have missed deer right under my stand and I have missed deer out to 35 yds, so I really don' t know what the perfek range is, but if I had a choice I would choose 20-25 yrds because my movements and sound will be a little more foregiveing at this range as to have one close to you. But sometimes you just don' t have a say so in the matter and before you know it, that dang thing is right in on ya. Bobby[]

RE: How far do you like your shots
I' m on a good streak of getting short shots right now. I love those 10-15 yarders but sometimes those 10 yard shots have a down angle that often concerns me when you are 18-20' up. Inside 20 are slam dunks and I can' t count how many 15-18 yard shots I' ve taken.
However it takes a lot of patience and sometimes missed opportunities when you pass up a 25-35 yard shot in hopes of a point blank shot that never materializes.
