Draw length?
I' ve been shooting a very old bow tha I got from e-bay. THe draw length is about
30" . I talked with a guy from Dick' s sporting goods who has been bow hunting for a long time, he told me I should be shooting a lot shorter draw length. I am six feet tall, with a medium to slender build.{ I weigh 175 lbs. } He told me that most people had a draw length that was too long. What length do you think I should be using? the reason I' m Asking is that I just bought a new bow and I want to Know what draw length to set on it. It is adjustable 27" -30" .

RE: Draw length?
the guy at D!cks is right!
your Draw length is shorter than 30 inches and boy you have short arms for your heighth.
I would say that you would be very comfortable shooting at 28" DL maybe even 27 if you shoot with a string loop and release.

NCB,
The guy at Dick' s is right but don' t get carried away. If you' re 72" tall then divide that by 2.5 and you come very close to 29" . Try that and see how it feels. Maybe 28 3/4" will be even better. You got to shoot and see what feels good.

RE: Draw length?
I think that you really need to get measured at a pro shop, and maybe not Dick' s. Are you sure that you have a 26" sleeve length? I am 6' 2" and have a sleeve length of 38" . Granted, I do have long arms. On one of my setups, I use a 33" draw length and another I use 32" . So as you can see your draw length can vary according to your setup as well as your build. I also shoot longbow and have a draw of 31.5" .

RE: Draw length?
I' m thinking Paul is way too long in draw length but I haven' t seen his form and He may drag his nuckles on the ground. It will also depend alot on release or not (and the style you use) and string loop or not as well. I' ve never been measured at a proshop and it been right for me. I' m always shorter. I' m 71 1/2" tall and draw 28" with a release and a loop.
