Camouflage Revisited...A Cloak of Invisibility
It looks like "fact" could make "fantasy" a reality in the near future. The "Cloak of Invisibility" in the 'Harry Potter' is no longer as far fetched as it was when the first movie hit the silver screen.
We touched on this subject sometime ago, the wave of the future in the camouflage world that is invisibility. It is a totally different approach to camouflage than what we are used to in the hunting world. The "cloak" has to do with bending light. Of course the ones doing the research don't have hunting on their mind...that is not the type we think of here. They had some demonstrations of it in various forms on the History Channel the other night it was quite an eye opener.
We know that the animal world doesn't see the same spectrum of light that we do so there would no doubt be some modifications to make it work but then again perhaps not.
One of the forms they demonstrated did indeed remind me of the alien in 'Predator' when he was transparent. Obviously we won't be getting rid of the camo we use now anytime soon, and perhaps there may be some "ethical" questions concerning the use of this type of technology in the hunting world, but what is coming down the pike is mind boggling.
