Im going to have mostly the same gear, but im going to switch my tactics to more funnel and trail hunting then field side hunting. Big bucks are the goal now (And a fall gobbler).

I agree the sra i will be hunting is more for fun and camping the hunting. I do not think the have any plots out unlike the Fish and wildlife area i hunted before. I am also now only 50 miles down a intersate from indy so going deeper i hope. I am also going with a muzzleloader aswell. But due to looseing my stand andthe fact with getting surgery i will beable to use a climber or atleast a one man stand next year i ant buying a new two man. So i will be on the ground the entire season

Tim, just like you are changing your health habits and clearing your body of waste materials, the same you have to do with your mind. Change your mind frame from "the sra i will be hunting is more for fun and camping the hunting" to...I am going to figure out the sra and get onto deer if it takes me the whole season. Change this from, "I do not think the have any plots out unlike the Fish and wildlife area i hunted before" to...I am going to figure out where they eat and at what time so I can set up on the ground to kill one.

Tim, I found this link for you. It looks like it has a lot of exciting opportunities to hunt deer on state parks, military bases and such. You have to fill out an application and just mail it in before the deadline(s). I suggest just printing out the file and perusing it, then making a good plan on where you want to hunt and when. Most people do not go through the trouble to work hard to hunt in specific areas and many do not even know about quota hunts/special hunts offered by their respective states. I encourage you to take the bull by the horns so to speak and look into the opportunities that are available on the link I sent you. GOOD LUCK!

Only thing I'm doing different this upcoming season is being more aggressive and mobile with the climber, when the time is right..
Good luck to you this year Tim, you're gonna knock one down this fall.

Good luck Tim with the surgery and hunting.

For me.......I need to get in better shape. Just turned 55 and I don't work as hard as I used to. That means working out and lots of walking. Though I'm 6'0" tall and only weigh 158 lbs., I'm finding it harder to hang stands along with the walk into some of my spots. I've been getting lazy.

I don't think I'll have too much new gear, just a couplenew hang-ons and some new boots. I am 88 pounds lighter than last season, and hope to be another 30 or so lighter yet by the time this season rolls around, which should make things a lot easier in the woods. Even already this spring with planting the garden i'm amazed at the energy that I now have. Good luck with your weight loss, you'll be a new man for sure.
Tactic-wise, I hunted this property for the first time last year, and will go into this season WAY smarter than last year, so I should see an increase in my sightings and opportunities for shots. Having a couple permanent stands in my arsenal will really help things too.
