Natural causes? I think not.

Well if you consider getting shot at night by a drive by natural, then yeah, it was natural.

My $0.02 is someone made a poor hit on the giant SOB, lost the blood trail in the tall grass, and never recovered the deer.

No way natural he looked healthy in the trail pic. I'm sure it was someone saw him couldn't resist the shot the buck ran where they knew they couldn't go and they never followed up. If someone shot that buck that had permission to hunt the area they would have searched until they did find it. That buck is amazing.

saw the buck took a shot and couldn't recover would also be my guess...

if it was shot at night with a high power rifle then i feel they would have taken the rack

What a buck, but the first thing i noticed was the contridiction between the natural causes and that trail cam photo... strange... wish your buddy could have harvested that one.
