I keep a Browning Model 71 (lever gun) in .450 Alaskan (cannon) back in the truck in case I have to go into the brush after one I've hit. Otherwise it's just me and the stick.

3 1/2 to 4 years for brown bear in most of the state depending on if you take it in the spring or fall season. Some areas with predator problems have gone to one every year.
