Odds of 528 rows
I was hunting two 80 acres standing corn fields that run a mile length-wise. At 30 inch rows it computes to 528 rows of corn or one damn big baitpile for some on here. The corn was short/broken downso gimpy knee me is kneeling since sitting on my stool would put me to high above the corn. Trust meit was painful after1.5 hoursof kneeling. I was position so I could cover two spots they were reallymoving through. I couldn't turn to watch my back very wellwith my knee. About a half hour before dark, I see a spike working his way through. I was watching him when I heard something rustle the corn leaves right behind me. I froze and fought the urge to look back hoping the deer was over a row or two. What are the odds in 528 rows of corn that he would walk down the one I am hiding in?? [&:]Of course he wasas he let out a snort not 15 feetbehindme. I said a silent dammit. Apparently he didn't like the big white bloob in front of him but the wind was in my favor. Hestarted moving to the side. I finally caught a glimpse of him out the corner of my eye as he circled around me not alarmed in the least. Good buck !! I needed him to go another 20 yards as I couldn't turn with my knee nor was there a decent shot. Things were looking goodwhen he turned and headed away from me. He feed for 15 minutes and then wandered back in the direction he came in. Of course the spike came byaround 15 - 20yards begging to die. I really wish we had trees here !! The joys of ground hunting.

It's best to hunt the trails leading to your bait pile......instead of the pile.

Seriouslythat is sound advice on hunting bait pilesand I've always wondered why people would hunt rightover it since it will lessen your odds the more you huntthe spot.
