Look at this guy, they deducted close to 4 inches off him. You don't find them much more symetrical than this, at least I didn't think so.

I am surpised that there would be 4 inches of deducts...about the only thing I can see is the g2's might be a bit uneven? Great looking buck though none the less.

I can see the desire to want to reward a particularly symmetrical animal.....but to me it's "seemingly" more about NOT recognizing an equally (more?) impressive animal (via deductions).
I realize I'm an outsider looking in.....and my interest in joining this org. is miniscule.....but I'm wondering why they have adopted such a (as far as I can tell) vastly unpopular scoring method???
I'm talking strictly whitetails, here.

The scoring system is flawed. I always want the gross score and not the net.Having a symetrical rack means nothing to most hunters, heck, most guys I know (including myself) like the stickers and non-typical formations in horns. Inside spreadfor example gets credit and this is a measurement credit simply based on the angle the horns are growing out of the deers head. The system needs to be changed but there is so much tradition and history that I doubt it willget changed anytime soon. I've always said that actualdisplacement is the only fair measurement.
