My Offical Stance on the Moon Theory

RE: My Offical Stance on the Moon Theory
Germ I agree. Maybe at times over the years peak rut days can vary from a little early to a little later, but its basically the same time year after year at least in my area. I just believe that in some instances and in some areas the rut is more intense in some years than in other years. Bucks are still searching for does here, not really chasing much.

Germ...Were you reading my mind? I hate this full moon crap, I like it black as coffee. Me, Dad and my brother sat ALL DAY today and me and my Dad see a total of 0deer, and my brother seen 2 this morning and 2 this evening....this area is usually a deer mecca. If it wasn't for the fact that it's supposed to snow tomorrow, I'd sleep in

Damn you Ed
From first light to 11:00 AM I did not see a deer.
At 11:00 a doe came by.
At 12:05 a small buck came by
At 12:15 another small buck came by
At 12:30 another small buck came by.
I did not see another deer until 3:45

The full moon is good for getting in and out of the woods without a flashlight. Otherwise I think it sucks.
I was out from daylight to dark yesterday. 'Cept for one hour that I had to climb down, go pee and then go sign in for the afternoon hunt. I saw another hunter at 6:30am. I saw a 1.5 year old buck at 7:30am. A 3.5 year old eight pointer at 8:22am. Another hunter at 11:30am (same guy walking out). I climbed down at noon. Signed back in and was back in my stand by 1pm. A doe had bedded down by my stand in that time. [:@] I jumped one along the trail on the way in too.
A possum came by at 3pm. Ten minutes before dark two does came by.
My biggest impression of the day was that my boots are really, really uncomfortable for an all-day stand. I'm not seeing much rutting activity other than the bucks just kind of wandering around. No chasing to speak of. I must be hunting the celibate part of the park. [&o]

Actually I see little sign of few if any does being ready yet. Its wierd here, yet I think its the best time to take a nice buck.
