I don' t mean to be the idiot but personally i love the matthews over the bowtech, hoyt, PSE etc... any day the price might be high but it is way worth it and i don' t like how you are talking so much trash about them.
They aslo added a new cam to the LX to and it is faster than the legacy

You' re not an idiot for loving Mathews............They have some great bows.
The topic is about who is " king of the hill" this year and in my opinion 2 years ago it was Mathews, last year it was Bowtech and this year it is Hoyt. I base that on which company has created the most buzz in the sport and has everyone talking about their bows.......and more importantly they have people lined up to buy their bows.
It' s just my opinion man...........trying to have a little fun here in the offseason.
Everyone I ask is buying a Razortech or other Hoyt or a Bowtech of some sort and they all give the reasons that I listed as why they can' t wait to get that bow.
I have yet to hear even one person at a local shop or shoot say they couldn' t wait to get their hands on those V shaped limbs of the LX!!!! After all nothing is more exciting on a bow then limb pockets Can you honestly say that the innovations (or lack of) on the LX are comparable to the stuff seen on the new Hoyts and Bowtechs??
I am not talking trash about them at all. They are the ones with the slogan " Catch us if you can" Hoyt and Bowtech " can" and " did" catch and in my opinion pass them in the last 2 years.
Like I said already........I am betting Mathews comes out swinging next year with something very new and exciting to get back some of the thunder they have lost recently. If they do I will be the first to vote them " king of the hill" for next year.
I just find it difficult to get excited about a roller cable, string bumpers and snug limb pockets.
Don' t take it personal dude.

Did the cam speed it up or the shorter brace height?? The LX is a great bow I am sure.
I think you are missing the feel of the thread. It' s not about bashing.

RE: So who is king of the bow hill this year???
I get tired of the who' s better than who deal , but IMHO :
I' ll say Hoyt is the most innovative this year!
Bowtech is still the fastest and fastest across the board !
The Mathews LX is a very fast bow, smooth, excellent asthetics, requires no limbsavers or hush kit on the bow, conservative riser, no valley of death, and limb pockets you can back the poundage all the way down on and still have optimum performance ! It gives the best performance in the cleanest looking package out right now to me !!
Maybe not the most innovative or fastest this year but Mathews quality is still the best in my opinion !! - Not that the others are bad....just not as good STILL ! IMO !

It is not so much about being king of the hill as bringing in new ideas. Go check out EBay and see how many Mathews are for sale on there. About half of all the bows on there are Mathews. Sure, alot of people are selling them to get the new LX, but, I bet that even more are selling them to go get a new Hoyt, BowTech, ect....

CBM
This thread is just for fun and wanting to know which bows people believe have taken the sport by storm this year and placed themselves at the top at least for now.
No one is saying the LX isn' t a great bow. I am sure it is sweet.
I just stated that there isn' t as much " buzz" about Mathews this year as compared to the days of the Legacy and Q2XL. I just don' t see as many people out there saying they can' t wait to get.........or wish they had a LX. IMO the Hoyts and Bowtechs are looked at more as " THE" bow to get......at least this year. I don' t even know anyone that has an Icon.
There are plenty of great bows out there and I am sure the LX is one of them. For whatever reason (I listed my opinion on a few) it doesn' t seem to be " THE" bow everyone wants this year. That honor goes to the Razortec and Patriot dually IMO just going by what I hear and see.
GEEEEESH........you guys are touchy.
Just have some fun with it............I shoot a Fred Bear TRX and they sure aren' t gonna be anyones choice for " king of the hill"
WHO CARES???

The LX' s limb pockets could be an awesome improvement over regular limb pockets. The only problem is people that aren' t pro' s (such as I) didn' t know there was an issue with regular limb pockets until mathews told me so. And then I have to wonder about the salesman explaining how the limb pockets are so much better to the buyer who might have been trying to decide between a legacy and a LX .
Buyer- " so these new limb pockets are great? does that mean the legacy' s are not???"
I' m just saying if Mathews is going to say that it' s a vast improvement then they should have put it on all their bows.
I' d like to see a SQ2 with about 15 more fps, string suppressors and the new- better than the rest- limb pockets!! That would be my king of the hill.
I' d also like to see the Diamondback VX with about 20 more fps and solid limbs. I' d of bought it in that configuration.

Atlasman, I' ll reword my post a little , as I wanted to express my opinion but not sound irretated ! But I was ,after all the ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz, BOOOOORRRIINNGG, and the third post of yours on one thread regarding the limb pockets . You seemed to be on a mission to express how unimpressed you are with the limb pockets ! One time would have been fine !

RE: So who is king of the bow hill this year???
I bought a Merlin HQ35 toward the end of last season so I wasn' t looking to buy a 2003 bow this year, but I still went out and checked them out because I like looking at new toys. Here is my feelings on the 2003 offerings. Hoyt' s Cam 1/2 is very nice. It offers a great blend of speed and smoothness that is just what I look for in a hunting bow. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of split limbs (even though Hoyt' s are the best in the industry IMO) and I am very over the Tec riser. I have a short draw so the Patriot DC and its counterparts interested me. I drew both the Patriot DC and the Black Knight and it is obvious where that speed comes from. The weight stacks up immediately and remains throughout the draw cycle and then drops into an almost non-existent valley. While the additional speed is attractive, that would not be a good hunting bow for me. I prefer a smooth controlled draw and if you draw those bows you had better be prepared to shoot because if you need to let down you are likely to be busted. I would like to see BowTech come out with a Patriot next year that offers a more conservative cam. Granted you wouldn' t get the same speed, but with a smoother draw and longer valley I would definitely look into buying a Patriot DC. I haven' t had a chance to shoot the new Mathews bows, but since their innovations for this year haven' t been drastic they are most likely the same quiet, smooth, accurate bows that they have always been. I think they have been trying too hard the last two years to offer something " new" and have disappointed their following. It would be interesting to see what they could do with a hybrid system. I would love to take a look at the new Merlin bows, but I don' t have a dealer near me. The Omega system looks like a competitor to the Cam 1/2 and the Darton CPS system and with Merlin' s Fusion limbs would be very sweet. I have been told that the Rapid 2 cams are even smoother than the Rapid cam and offer several more FPS, (maybe an upgrade for my bow???). All in all some great new bows this year, but nothing that has my money burning a hole in my pocket.
