Jeff, congrats on a great kill. Its never easy when you hit one and cant find it, but unfortunately, if you hunt long enough its going to happen. Once again, great work on a nice doe.

I'm gonna tell you guys...(and thanks to each and every one of you for the kind words)....

I was gun shy as could be on the trail. 120 yds is a LONG ways. If you'd seen the POI and the blood gush out of her at impact.....you'd never thought she could go 20 yds.

I admit to being nervous the whole way.....even after witnessing that.

Congrats Jeff!! That doesn't look like a Rage wound .......

100% rage wound, Pt (and thanks). There's a little "silver" skin around the heart......and I'd kept it from the entrails to give to my shop owner's dad (he uses the liver and heart for fish bait). When Ipeeled it back.......I saw that slice. The entrance wasn't "normal"....I agree. But at 5 yds.....perfect broadside.....it did the job.

Still.....no complete pass thru.

That slice in the heart looks to be about an inch .... makes me think the blades did not fully deploy????

That's amazing she went that far with a hole that big in her heart! Good shot though, and great pics.

It's a lot bigger than that, PT....and I think the blades DID deploy fully. It was just a straight shot through. When the rage gets to cut on an angle is when it does its real damage. I thought the heart slice looked a "little" small, too.....but it's a lot bigger than an inch.....and the exit hole (though the arrow was broken off) looked to be the right size.

Aaron....that's Richard (My shop owner's dad). He's gonna make a bunch of cuts out of her....and give me the backstraps, as well. Basically I get all the backstraps.....1/2 the rest....and I pay nothing in butchering and packaging fees. All I had to do was field dress her. He came to the house and got her (we put her in the trunk of his car....lol). He's the one using the heart and liver for fish bait.
