Default strike 1

i went out last evening at about 3:30 after school...i sat in a spot where ive been seeing deer so i was excited about getting a chance at a nice buck

at 6:20ish i hear something behind me, i turn around and 45 yds away is a small but respectable 6pt. and hes coming straight to me

as he gets closer he starts trotting and when he gets to my side he went through some thick branches and i drew

at about 27 yds i stop him and take my shot........

and the top limb of my bow hitsa limb in my tree, sending the arrow off target, into a tree about 12 ft off the ground, the buck ran and i didnt see another deer the rest of the evening

the funny(well not really)thing is that i knew that if i had to shoot in that direction i was going to have to bend a little more than usual at the knees, but being 16 and inexperienced, i gotexcited and rushed the shot

oh well, as my dad told me when i told my story...

"how you gonna learn if you dont messup"

Your last sentence says it all man. Better to miss him completely than to wound him and never find him. Better luck next time, Now you have a mission, get that buck that got lucky.

All of us learn from our mistakes young man! Make sure you do as well. No better way to learn than to make a mistake and learn from it. Good luck the rest of the season.

Sometimes the misses are much better stories anyways. I have done it myself. Keep at it and post pictures of your success.
