I'm always curious when people talk about their mechanicals not opening. I'd like to know which mechanical you're shooting....and I'd like to see a picture of the heart....showing that it didn't open. I'd just like to see it. Curiousity.

So....same question. DO you have them? (of anything?)

I honestly didnt even think to take pics of the heart. I can go after my morning hunt tomorrow and see if the pile is still around. It was a rocky mountain assassin

errrr that would tick me off.....

i wont kick you while your down, but thats 1 reason i would got a light and kept going with that hit...the other is coyotes.....just a choice that has to be made and you played on the side of caution...which is a good thing....but occassionally, it dont pan out...

what time did you find the gut pile?? do you think it was found at night????

i actually had the Assassin heads when i shot 100gr my first year....carried 1 in the quiver once turkey season opened....your post makes me glad i didnt shoot a deer with them....i honestly think the o-ring that is used on most jackknife style expandables may be the culprit....? maybe? i dont know...i know mine were pretttty sturdy...if it hits something soft, i can see it being enough to keep it closed....

that sucks...sorry to hear that.....

I beleive it was found early in the morning. There are people hunting the areas around my farm. The O ring does hold them pretty tight. I am putting the muzzy's from last year back on as we speak.

i was going to say, if you thought it was found in the nite, and seeing your in WV where running coon hounds is pretty popular, id check with the coon hunters in the area...dogs cannot read posted signs...i know in PA we can go in and get our hounds from the property no questions asked...i dont even think we have to inform the landowner...we have found that knocking on a door at midnite causes alot more issues than simply sneaking in and snatching up the dogs and getting out....we wont take the gun if its kill season....if its close to a house we wont even shine the tree....it happens..part of the sport and although our dogs are smart, we havent had luck teaching them to read signs, so we just slip in and grab em and get out without disturbing people...
