If this has been done before I apologize. I was just wondering this today. I am betting that most people use them basically because they dont know how to tune their bow for their broadheads.
I got a new bow last week and today I went to shoot my broadheads. It probly took 15 minutes max and I was hitting a 4" circle at 40 yds. with my fixed blades. I dont have anything against mech. heads and I will probly still use them for turkeys myself.
Just curious.

Did you start this to stroke your own ego? But anyway, here is why I use a rear opening mechanical.
Mechanicals will flutruer than a fixed under hunting conditions: shot distance from 0-60, weather conditions (wind and cold with all the clothes on), torque on the bow, release.
With today's bows and the KE they put out there is no reason to waste that energy on a small fixed head. Use that energy on a larger cutting mechanical. It will inflict more damagewith larger holes and shot placement for shot placement give you better blood trails.
Frankly, I can't understand why you would shoot a small fixed head when you could shoot a rear opening expandable like the Rage.
