Opening Day Bowkill Turkey
Well....I wasnt fortunate enough to harvest a deer today, but I did manage to take this nice hen. Its my second bowkill turkey and my first with the new Hoyt.
She and about 15 others came out of a thicket and fed at about 10 yards but I had no shot for about 10 or 15 minutes. They all slowly fed off into the field and I seen this hen moving slowly towards my shooting lane. I stood up and got ready to take my shot. I finally drew the bow and the hen stops right in front of my shooting lane for about 40 seconds...so I am sitting at full draw shaking like a leaf waiting for this turkey to move about 2 feet.
Well she finally stepped into the lane at 20 yards and I let the arrow fly. It hit its mark and she dropped right there. She did a little flapping and such and the other turkeys kept coming closer and closer to her and making her move. I waited about 5 minutes and she was still looking around, so I nocked another arrow and put that one right next to the other one. She quickly expired and I got down to claim my opening day trophy!
