Oh gotcha, I thought you were talking about the rubber loosing its ability to hold scent in, which is why I was confused.

I try and update every 2-3 years when it comes to boots.

I made a thread about this a long time ago.....referencing a show I'd seen where the host said they thought they got optimal use out of a set of boots for two seasons. Then....it was time to buy new ones. I can see how they might become more pourous over time....and hold more scent.

Rubber boots are definitely a necessity where I hunt. My farm is flat as a pancake and with the soil type, it also is poorly drained. The woods become wet with the first rains of fall and stay that way until the next summer. I have to wade through sections that are half way up my shins or deeper just to get to my hunting spots. There is no avoiding it.
