Default Be Creative!

Over the time I have been on this forum I have seen a few threads about people who put up cameras or stands on private property without permission. Taking these items can lead to legal ramifications and confrontations with people you may or may not know. Anyway, being idle right now, I came up with some lesser ways to deal with these situations. Please think of more and add them in.

1. Trailcam - take the joker out of a deck of cards and hang it on a string. Hang the card in front of the motion sensor on the camera and every time there is even a small breeze, pictures of nothing.

2. Trailcam or Stand - If you don't intend to hunt the immediate area, get some blood meal from the local lawn and garden center and sprinkle it out on the ground in a wide circle around the stand. Blood meal is used to keep deer and other herbivores out of gardens. After it has been out for a day or so, the smell is pretty much beyond the human nose, but not deer. It will attract coyotes and other carnivores to the area though.

3. Trailcam - take a small piece of scotch tape and put it over the lens. They won't get any photos that they can tell what is there. There is no permanent damage to the camera.

Sorry but if it's MY property my creativity would still begin and end with the stand or camera at the base of the tree and a notesaying "Takeyour stuffand get out, if I find it again it's mine, and if I findYOU I will press charges, yours truly, the landowner".

That's about as kind hearted or creative as I would get.

Let's say you have "exclusive rights" to the property, but you are not the landowner & the landowner has not given you power of attorney....

Then I tellthe landownerabout the stuff, that he has a trespasser and ask him what he wants to do with the stuff.

Why piss around with someone messing up your hunting area just to be creative?
Do what you need to do to get his ass out of the area.

I would hope the landowner would do the same thing as Matt, or I would.

But not bad ideas, especially the joker.

For the treestand! I would eat a large bottleof salsa with corn chipsand lots of garlicwith a can of B/M beans.
Then I would leave the aftermath on the seat of the treestand. That would be a nice present for the slob when he climbs into his stand to hunt

If I find someone elses stand in a tree on my property, I cut the tree down with my chainsaw!!

That should give them the idea.

Before I got my own place, I had people who were placing trailcams and stands on the land I had permission to hunt. When I spoke to the landowner about it, he told me not to do anything because he was afraid whoever was trespassing would damage his equipment (he did not live on the land). It frustrated the crap out of me and I just did things like pee in front of his stand and trailcams. There is a good chance you WILL run into situations like this if you don't own your own and thought it might be nice to get some creativity going where you don't do anything that will be too confrontational.

So if your "creative" with someone elses stuff, even if he does not belong there, what do you suppose he'd do to your stuff when he finds it. Obviously he'd know someone else is messing with him so I'd guess he'd try to find your stuff. Could end up in quite an ordeal. I guess if that happened to me, I'd have to see what kind of mood I was in.

I like the 'cutting down the tree with the chainsaw' idea
