Black bears are great eating! The bear I shot this spring was fresh out of the den and eating new forage on the beaches. That' s the kind of bear to look for if you are wanting one to eat.
Watch out for those bears eating fish! [X(]

Cant say about bear. I have been told the meat has alot of fat to it.
Pigs. Get a young one about 75 to 100 lbs. You will need to cook it very well done as they can carry some bad bugs.
Take care and good hunting.

Cant comment on Bear as yet I have not shot one but plan too later this year.
Now wild pig on the other hand I have plenty of experience with.
Wild pig is better then the pork you get from the supermarket unless you try and eat a big old boar they can be a little leathery and tough to eat.[X(]
Try and take young boars or sows.
Like Who said arounf the 75 to 130 mark for boars and 75 to 250 for sows.
Older big sows the meat can be a little tough.
