Default Shooting does?

What would it take for you to shoot a doe?

I know some do it with regularity....and some don't buy into the practice (for many reasons: herd dynamics don't demand it; hurts their buck hunting; etc...).

I've got a ton of slick heads on both of my properties. I hope to shoot 3 off of each...and Andy (SCBigBuckHunter) shoot 3 off of each. That would be a start anyways.

I love doe hunting!

Early season in PA I'll whack any mature doe that stands still long enough.......in Illinois Greg and I are more particular about WHEN we'll shoot one while we hunt the pre-rut and rut.
IF we see a group of does on an evening hunt with no buck in sight we'll generally quietly try to take a mature one out.
AM hunts we dont' shoot them because we don't want to be tied down dealing with cleaning etc and screw up our afternoon buck hunting.

Lone does in the evening generally get a pass because they seem to usually be the ones with a buck trailing somewhere behind.

This year, I can only shoot 1 deer, so I will hold out for a buck until after Muzzle loader season is over. After that there is only a couple of weeks left of archery season, so ANYTHING that is legal will be deflated.

wouldn't take much, about the only time won't drop one is during the rut and then thatis questionable - I have hit a point in my hunting career where I just wanna have fun, and shooting does is pretty darn fun...

I need to find a nice mature doe to mount alongside one of my bucks - maybe this year

I'm with Matt/Pa on the early season harvest here in PA. I am looking to fill my antlerless tag early, but once we get later into October and November rolls around ,they get a free pass with me.

Well...Last year, I killed 1 buck and 8 does...I plan to do about the same this year...
Once they hit the freezer, I can't tell the difference...
