Either way they have no plans on unbanning baiting in alcona county where i hunt and IMO i think it keeps alot of weekend and hunters that are careless out of the woods where i hunt.
Dude I hunt in Alcona county

Baiting is alive and well[:'(] They still sell it, so somebody is buying it[:@]

I learned to hunt whitetails in Alcona County and I agree with you. I still try to make it up there once a year. It's not like it was in the 90s, but there is no doubtwatchers, hunters and clubs are still baiting.

You MI boys could do one of the following...

The Wisc. plan which was to eradicate all the deer.. thus ticking off all the hunters and proving the states DNR was inept... I think this plan originally began like 6 years ago.. maybe more.

-or-

The Illinois plan.. which was don't tell anyone we're going to hire buttloads of sharpshooters and its own agents to take out entire herds.. in your yard... while you sleep... and all you get is a "i shot all your deer letter.. sorry" which ticked off the landowners and hunters and proved the states DNR was not only inept but also bad shots.

Good luck gents. I really wish you well and hope they can contain the spread.

i wish they'd ban baiting in minnesota. oh wait, technicially it's illegal but everyone seems to do it. all my neighbors bait (and yet i shot more deer then all of them combined without baiting )

The Do it center on 65 in Gleenie sells more corn than the jolly green giant i wont deny it but they will swear up and down most of it is going to Iosco county. I know the area i hunt you Dont see anyone in bow season accept those who are at our place and in rifle season you will see maybe 5 others. i have covered alot of woods in my area you dont see any stand blinds or piles. Now being in law enforcement i have a few friendly conversations with some COs up there and i have heard some of their stories of what they do to catch baiters and ill tell you i wont risk it but that is me personally. Im sure there is heavy baiting in all of the TB zone by some on private land but i think public land is toned down, believe it or not the CO i talked to said they get a lot of calls on baiter / feeders and they take action all the time.

Well im sorry to say that we cant make everyone follow the rules. I follow them, sounds like you do. In my opinion taking adeer over bait in a no baiting zone is the same as taking a deer with a rifle during the archery season.
