I am not affraid of heights either, but the highest I will hunt is 20 feet in my climber. I hunted a tree laster year at 7ft because and got within 10 yrds of a 3 yr old. Cover is your key not height.

Most of our ladder stands are set at 15 feet. However, this year I have one put at 18 feet, but I don't think it makes that much difference.
I could never see myself going higher than 18 feet and I feel that 15 is ideal.

I've be up around 36 feet last I can remember as being my highest. I was splitting a hill side and need to have the height for the up hill, house side of the trail. Early season around 20, then I migrate up to 30 of 32 depending where I'm at. Some place allow me to be only 18'. It all depends.

I just hung my high stand today.... Its APX 25ft. It's the highest Ive ever hunted... maybe because It more open and I can see the open ground... but I like it, not as great as I thought, but should be good. It's not too scary either, I'm using tree steps, and they work fine until you get to the top then it gets slightly uneasy, but if it's as good as I hope, it should be worth it.

With a gun I have been as high as 45' but I won't go that high with a bow because of the bad shots angles. The highest I have ever gone with a bow is probably 30' but I prefer to keep it closer to 20'.
