WHat he's doing is touting ONLY the advantageous characteristics of the heavier arrow.....WITHOUT acknowledging the FACT that the same bow (at the same draw weight.....MY interpretation of "all things being equal"...) would propel the lighter arrow at greater speeds.

At some point there becomes a point of diminishing returns RE: the heavier arrow.

Of course the law he references is correct. But, is it misleading to the average hunter/reader.

I just stated that I think it is.

I dont think it is ....at least to the average hunter ....... [:-]

Welcome to my world.....lol.

If I'd taken the stance of the author......it would have been discerned by the HNI masses as "Misleading".

Again, the statement is true,no one is saying different but it is a bit misleading in archery,2 arrow do not travel the same speed of different weight,WHEN ALL THINGS ARE EQUALL.[8D]
I agree TFOX, I also stand by my statement that it's being over analyzed. Common sense tells us your quote above is true.

Had he said ARROWs rather than objects Jeff I would agree with you.

Again, what if he said bowling ball vs golf ball instead of OBJECT.

Object made it a very generic statement.

The average hunter has no idea about momentum,ke or even arrow speeds out of their bow. They are lucky if they know the actuall speed of their bow.Not many even know what ibo means.

So read that quote with this in mind and then say it isn't misleading.FACT YES,misleading to the average bowhunter, which is whatt Jeff was refering to,yes, imo.

Jeff,it only took me a 6 pack to get into your world.

Okay, I'm out of this equation with this last post.

Your question was (Thread title)

What's wrong with this POV?

My answer, absolutely nothing because it's 100% true isn't it?

"But really, all you need to know about momentum is that, all things being equal, heavier and denser objects traveling at the same speed as lighter objects will have greater momentum.

And this statement below is 100% true isn't it?

Putting it another way, it is more difficult to stop a heavy arrow, which means it will penetrate more deeply"

Rob....What in the world do you think he was talking about? Let's be real. It was article touting heavier ARROWS over lighter ARROWS.

I guess he could have been talking about sprinting cows v. sprinting squirrels, too. But, since the entire article centered around ARROWS.....I just assumed.

You left out the other part of his quote. NOW what do you think he was talking about? What "object"?

Rob....What in the world do you think he was talking about?
Um.....? Perhaps...momentum in it's simplest form.
