Default Growing Hardwoods.

Anyone into growing Hardwoods? It sounds funny but I was watching some show and a comercial for Mossy Oak came on and the guy said something to this sort.

"Someone asked me what a guy my age is still doin growin hardwoods."

It got me thinkin about startin a few trees my self for my own property. Not many Oak trees on my property and wasn't sure how difficult it was to do.

Your thoughts ?

Not difficult at all. Get you a bar to plant with and plant them in early spring. Get with your state forestry and select trees that will grow in your soil conditions and terrain. Keep them from freezing, keep cool and I always keep the roots in water until they go in the ground. If the roots dry out, they are done. I also like to keep the weed competition down the first summer if possible. You can rent a planter if your gonna plant several thousand of them but I plant 300-500 by hand every year. You can do this in one day too, but you will be sore.
