New Hoyt 2009 Bows Out...Reflex Line Being Fazed Out

I used to lug around my old bear mountain hunter elk hunting all day. My shotgun weighs about 8 pounds and I haul it around pheasant hunting all day as well with no sling. I usually have a pack on as well when I am elk hunting. I agree lighter would be better somewhat but not a big deal.

Whoa... are you SURE about this? (Reflex being discontinued).
Hoyt owns Reflex. Same place, same manufacturing plant, same address. I wonder why they want to do this, or perhaps, it's just a rumor.
I love my Reflex Highlander (which is basically a discontinued Hoyt Ultra-Sport), and think it is/was the best bow for the money that I bought back in 2006.
Hmmmmmm....

It's no worse than lugging a rifle of similar weight.I agree that some of the Hoyts are heavy compared to a lot of other bows. I have an '07 VectrixXL, and it's a bit heavy, but I like it for the stability it provides because of this. I only carry it to my stand where it getsset in my bow holder, so the weight isn't an issue for me.

In all actuality try lugging that 6lb bow all day for 5 days on an Elk hunt or something like that. That 6lbs would feel like 60lbs. Especially when there are equivelent bows out there that would be a full pound lighter after being fully decked out.

You guys are funny! It's 6 pounds, come one. How hard is it to carry a six pound bow plus accessories?

I'm almost always carring the stand to the tree and it can be through some tough climbs and typically in unfamilar places. Could be a mile or 2 in. The stand also has a day pack straped to it. On the way out there's the game to concider. Some places are thick with things that cut stuff up requiring a person to carry their bow over head.
Then there's the trip itself. Often very taxing because of the need to be stealthy and eliminating as much fatigue as possible is just plan smart. Heck even sitting or standing on stand is taxing if your get'n r done.
Cold weather is worse since clothes and food require more attention. It all adds up.

You can probably look at the Reflex angle as they are not ending it, just renaming it! Reflex has usually been last years Hoyt's or the cheaper end Hoyt's with a different name. By putting a different name they probably figure they reduce sales (not everyone knows Hoyt is Reflex). By selling them under the Hoyt name, they probably increase visibility of the bows and end result will be raised sales.
