I was 19 before I started driving myself to different hunting spots, before that I always had one or more people to go hunting with.

I was raised by a single mother and I started hunting alone immediately. This year will be my 27th season with compound in hand. 30th plus if you count an old fiberglass recurve that had no business in the woods. I'll be 42 in Nov.

At the age of 11 I was walking about 1/2 mile down an old logging road thatwent to some bottoms. I would spend every weekend getting up before daylight an getting to one of my favorite spots as the darkness started breaking.

This will be my 34th year chasing whitetail deer.

I was actually 14 when I bowhunted Deer the 1st time & it was with Adult members of the local Archery Club. At 16 I took my 1st Deer with a Bow (1958) & I am starting my 52nd year of Bowhunting Biggame this year.
Many a Bowhunt alone BUT the most enjoyable is always with friends & Family.

Wow! I'm almost embarrased to say but I came late to the dance. Killed my first deer at 45, I'm 50 now and it will be my 6th season!

My dad passed away when I was 2 so I never knew him. My mom would get up at 4:30 in the am and drive me to where I hunted. She would stay and sleep in the car and I'd come back when done. The woman was a Saint.
Yes , She Was.

I cant be truthful legally.[8D] I hunted since I was 10 or so, but not always "within arms reach of a legal adult". I remember the winter I turned 14I stayed at my grandpas house nearly every weekend and drove the 4wheeler back to where I wanted to hunt and did it solo a few times. I enjoyed hunting with my dad more than solo anyway though, he kept me entertained and was great company. I miss hunting with him, ever since i could drive he has been going less and less. I look forward to our hunt together in 2 weeks for pronghorn out in SD.

I think 16 would be a legal answer for me....so 16 it is.
