So you're playing the wind...
You see a buck in the distance......and you grunt to him.
Now he's gonna do what?
Same scenario......except you've either blind grunted one up.....OR...you've rattled one in.
He's gonna do what?
Just a question.....WHY would anyone who feels like playing the wind is SO important......employ a grunt tube/rattling antlersin their arsenal.....IF they weren't going to take EVERY OTHER scent control measure possible?

Well would you rather the buck just walk away out of your life, or come back in and possible get a shot whether he circles downwind or not? Seems to me that early season/unpressured and sometimes ruttingbucks do not always circle downwind.

Form my rattling experience, they don't always go downwind. It helpsif you have a barrier such as a pond or really think fence row blocking them from getting downwindof you.

Well I generally only call during the rut, at that time the bucks mind is where mine usually is
It is a possibility you can get away with calling because they are more interested in a) does in estrous and b) bucks infringing on their territory.
Maybe. But then again, maybe not.
I'll play the wind, and take my chances.

I see what your saying Jeff,
The fact that he could circle downwind and bust you and be "gone" for the rest of the season. I guess its all depends on how much you want to risk.

Depends on how you look at it. If hes a hog I'm gonna take that chance every time. You only live once and its only bowhunting. [:-]
