Going by your formula....

300,000 Ohio archers divided by 90 entries= .0003
Since we're checking math and all.....those 90 entries were only for one quarter as well.

If we extrapolate (seems to be the thing to do around here, lately...lol)....you stand an 80% better chance of bagging one in OH than you do in NC.

That's .0012 v. .0004 (suited to match our state's # of bowhunters).

You have 3X the bowhunters we do.....and 9X the number of entries. Competition and pressure doesn't seem to be as much of a detriment as some would have us think! Having an abundance of available targets seems to trump those factors...and in a BIG way.

But like I said.....You're sayin' there's a chance!

Nice post Shultzy!
To bad things need to taken to a different level than what was intended for.[>:]

I can vouch for NH not being on "the map", most of us up here don't want anyone to know what we shoot.
As an example, I have a friend that has 11 badges of honor (200+ lbs.) that would all score near/over the minimum and doesn't say boo about it.

There's always a chance GMMAT! I remember you once saying there wasn't hardly any P&Y bucks from NC. From one quarter alone there's 10. Maybe next time there will only be 5, or maybe there will be 15 next time. Who knows I guess but they are there and it can be done. Look at Troy in Idaho. Hardly any entries from that state, he's done excellent but I guarantee you he's worked his but off to get what he's got.

The biggest buck last quarter entered from NC was 155 3/8ths. Thats an awesome buck in my eyes. I guarantee you have P&Y bucks around, maybe not many but there around you somewhere. Hold out on the smaller bucks, give it a shot. Until you do that how can you not say there isn't any around? Who cares what your trail cams say or what other locals in the area say. The locals around here say the same thing, there isn't no big bucks around! You might surprise yourself instead of making your accusations all the time of what your trail cam say and the locals say.

Steve, thanks for posting that, very interesting!

The stats do matter. Try to tell outfitters they don't!

I agree that the scoring system is screwed up. The only thing we really go by is NT gross. That tells you exactly how much bone is on the head of the whitetail, IMO that is the way it should be. If a guys has 5 fingers on his left hand, and 6 fingers on his right, you could ALL 11.

You wanna take the "Not entering" thing to the absolute extreme?
Greg and I were shown a gross 207" typical (Net 194 or 196"? can't remember the exact number)
by a guy hunting the same general area as us that he killed the week before.

He said he has no plans to enter it for anything and there's one of maybe what would you guess?.........a dozen orless gross 200" typicals probably taken last year?

There's a WORLD class whitetail that nobody but a couple locals will ever know about.

If it was me I would have a replica of the P&Y score sheet tatoo'd onto my chest. [:-]
