what to look for in a good spot
OK list both if there different for public and privet lands
What do you look for in finding a new stand or blind sight
I ask because like every year before i will be hunting a new area this year
99% sure it will be public
And i seem to find a good spot pre season then it dies off come the mid season
Atleast this year i came staying in the same county and state lol which has changed every year
What do you want with in 50 to 100 yards of your stand or farther if you want
say for bow hunting gun hunting and muzzle loader
does it change from weapon to weapon.

RE: what to look for in a good spot
funnels with high traffic and a tree within 60' but preferably within 30'. Tree must be big enough to safely hold the stand and also have a trunk large enough to break up my outline. Other than that, need to know what direction of travel the deer will be travelling in the AM and then in the PM. That's all folks!

When I hunt public land I have two tactics
I find a nice funnel 50-100 yds off the road, think about how many time you have seen a big buck close to a road
I go in past 300 yds and find a funnel between where they bed and eat. I firmly believe in high pressure public land there is a no go zone for older deer. 150-300 yds off the road is the zone I try to geton either side of.

RE: what to look for in a good spot
Funnels and pinch points are only good for one week of the season when deer are in rut... I like to hunt the other 3 1/2 months of the season with results to, so I want to be within 100 yards of a bucks bed so I can catch him in daylight. I rarly ever hunt the same stand twice, so I do not look for "stand sites" I hunt mobile. I hunt the bedding areas I found through hard scouting in post season.
