Default A Tribute to "The Ribcage Buck"

I know a lot of you are familiar with the buck that I call "The Ribcage Buck." I actually named him that after some help from you guys here on the forum last summer!

Anyway, people keep asking me about him, wondering if i ever saw him again this past season or found his sheds or anything so i figured i would make a post about this awesome deer now that i know his story.

It turns out that the ribcage buck was actually killed by a buddy of mine. He hunts a property that is actually about 2 miles from where i watched the buck all summer and on the morning of November 7th he met his match. My buddy Nate said that it was a crazy morning. Bucks chasing does everywhere before it even got light out. Fortunately it was light enough when this awesome buck stepped out and gave him a shot.

I just now got pictures from him so thats why i am making this post now. The awesome buck scored 173" and some change and although many of us thought that he may have been only 3.5-4.5, Nate said that he is almost positive that he had seen the deer the year before and that he was bigger. I guess we will never know for sure, but what a truely impressive animal!

What an incredible buck. Too bad you didn't get a crack at him Mike, but at least you know who got him. Your buddy must be extremely pleased with that buck. That is an extraordinary animal.

I never get tired of looking at pics of that buck. Great story, sounds like a deserving hunter.

When you say 2 miles..... 2 miles of driving distance via the roads or 2 miles as the crow flies?

Congrats to the hunter....

Good question.

He was/is indeed a great buck and like someone says, closure and your not left wondering. Also, if he had to fall, at least it was to a bow and you know the guy and got pics.
