Buffalo Hunt
Howdy guys. Im going on a buffalo hunt and just want a couple questions answered. Im going to increase my arrow weight because im shooting a lightweight carbon right now that is no where near enough in weight. Im going to go ahead and shoot XX78 2315s with a 125 grain broadhead. I was thinkin of using muzzys, but i may go ahead and shoot a cut up front type broadhead like a Zwickey or Steel force. Ill have my bow cranked up to 70 pounds. Does this sound like it will get decent penetration on a good bull? Thanks. Sorry, i know these are stupid, im a deer hunter though, not a buffalo hunter.

I recently shot a 1500 lb bull using 2315s with 125 thunderheads. I got plenty of penetration. The outfitter did indicate that those that used the 2 bladed broadheads seemed to get a little better penetration.

Have never hunted buffalo but my brother has guided several bison hunts the past couple years. He said the muzzy will be more than enough out of a 70 # bow. He said the majority of his hunters use 100 grain heads and they work fine. Last year 10 of 13 used 100 gr mechnical heads and they performed well, good penetration and quick kills.

Yea, i really like my muzzys. I wanted to increase the weight anyways for deer by going with a heavier arrow. The reason i picked a cut up front 2 blade head is for maximum penetration and even to blow through maybe if im close enough. Plus, these heads are extremely strong. Ill post pics.
