I have used a variety in the past. The last two years I used the 3 bladed 125gr Muzzy with good results. This year I changed to the G5 Stryker 3 blade 100gr....I tend to use a fixed blade broadhead, one that flies straight and true with bladed that can be replaced as I tend to shoot my broadheads alot.

I would recommend the Smoke broadhead. If you click on the link belowthere is a video of an elk taken with the Smoke broadhead: http://www.smokebroadheads.com/

Fixed blade all the way. Some people prefer COC heads and some don't. Either way it really doen't matter all that much. Both have their + and -.
My personal head of choice is slick trick 125 magnum. I am 100% confidentin this broadhead no matter what I may hunt on this continent. Someone is going to have to do something really amazing with a broadhead to ever get me to switch.

All the fixed-blade heads above would be excellent choices, and I've personally seen John's elk on his wall to vouch for what his head did on his elk... ![Smile](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My arrows will once again be tipped with Muzzy MX-3's when I head back to Colorado next month. Wow. Next month. That felt good to say!![Big Grin](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I prefer a broadhead that is sharp. But thats just my likings. Get what you want, just make sure its good enough to acually penetrate the elks skin, which shouldn't be to hard to find.

If you're going with an outfitter... some of them will not take you out with anything but a fixed, cut to the tip type. If that's not an issue, I'd go with cut to the tip.[8D]

100% Muzzy 100gr. 3 blade, I watched my brother blow completely through a 5x4 at 63 yards.

I think the store lied to me, It says 100gr. my old 100gr muzzy's shot perfect but my new ones are dropping and going to the left a bit. It might be the arrows.
