What kind of food do you take to the stand?
I was kind of wondering to what degree of a meal all of you long day hunters take with you to the hunting stand. I usually take hot oatmeal fora snack and hot soup for lunch inside of those little insulated coolers. Everytime I open the soup though I think the whole county can smell it, and probably can but I have seen deer while eating or shortly after.

The best lunch I've ever had in stand is deer sausage, a nutty bar and an apple. YUM-O! Something about that nutty bar though.....I don't know how many times I've had a deer walk by while I was eating one.....

When/if I take food (a rarity)....I usually take a power bar or peanut butter sandwiches. Up until this season, though....my furthest walk to stand has been .7 mi from my home. I can be down and at my table in less than 30 minutes, tops.
If I sit for extended periods, this fall....I'll take shelled peanuts a lot. Great source of protein....and the smell shouldn't be something I'd worry about. I used to feed in my woods with a mix of corn/peanuts. I KNOW they love peanuts....lol.
