I am soo sick of this/ dump the chumps
I have just about had it with many of my hunting friends and family always talking about and watching hunting then not actually doing. They will sit there and watch a program and talk about how great it would be to do something like that then when I ask them if they are game I get the "oh yeah for sure response" and after I have put in all of the research and time into setting it up then I don't get calls back or I get the second most popular response "man I don't think I can go". I for one am done with talking and all about doing and if you are a talker then I do not have the time for you. I have stopped calling some people about trips or even stopped talking to them all together and when I do plan a trip I plan it for myself, make the announcement and let the S#$% naturally sift itself. I feel a lot better this way and don't waste as much time anymore. I don't even know why I am telling you about all this but I guess if you have some friends this way then dump the chumps and find some real hunting buddies. Stop talking and start actually doing, everyday is a gift of borrowed time and I personally don't want to spend mine couch hunting.

The past 5 or 6 years I hunt alone.
I lease land by myself, book hunts by myself, scout by myself, check cameras, hang stands and kill deer.
Most of the time I get along pretty good with myself.
That's not to say I wouldn't like to hunt with a buddy one day that is as serious as I am, but I'd rather hunt alone than with a bunch of idiots.
Not to say your friends are idiots. I'm just saying in my circles - some of the guys I've dealt with.

Yeah I have learned to count on myself and not many others. I would love to see the fight TWES when you are not getting along with yourself and it is time for fist a cuffs.

That's why I go bowhunting in Alberta. I dreamed about it for years, now I livemy dreameach year. Yes, I'm single as I've mentioned in the past. And that's the big reason I'm able to pull this off.You get but one chance in life to do certain things, so seize the moment! You owe it to yourself. There might not be a tomorrow. I'veseena lotof my friends leave this beautiful world much too soon.

totally, have to plan it, do it, not just watch it.
my goal/plan is to try to take at least 1 big game hunt out west every year, many guys here in the midwest talk about/dream about one day hunting elk out west etc.....perhaps even use the word when I retire....
personally I don't want to be 55+ when I take my first elk hunt....already have a few elk hunts down. I try to plan which hunt/which year but with playing the random draws if you get lucky with a tag I feel it decides itself what you're hunting....
Was planning to hunt antelope in WY this year, which somehow we didn't draw the tag, then earlier in the year found out the old man essentially won the lotto with a buffalo tag, so had we not been applying for all sorts....more than likely we would not be heading out west this year for anything.
Plenty of guys have more means than I do, its all about whether or not you want to do it, and getting a plan in place, and then when you get lucky just doing it.
some of those tv shows certainly make things look easier than they are, ive come to learn that you cant expect an animal on any hunt.....and its not easy hiking around with packs etc...up/down mtns.
pretty sure it'll come to pay off though.

I spent the last 5 years with hunting buddies not showing up, getting there late and not taking the hunt serious. This year I joined this forum and have made some great friends. I will be hunting with MECHDOC quite a bit and will be trying to get Fergus out to the woods with us as well not to mention some possible Wisconsin hunts with a few more guys. What is great is that these guys are serious about hunting and have elevated my desire to hunt this year. This year is shaping up to be my best year ever and I couldn't be more excited.
