Ky is a call in state and when I talked to the wardens about it,they CLAIM that more deer(percentage) are checked in than when they had check stations.
There thinking is people will still call when they get home with the animal but most don't worry with checking in the deer that people get home after dark, after stations are closed.Basically,it is easy to call so more do it.

I miss the check station dearly. Some of my fondest memories when I was younger was going to the station after dark and seeing all of the trucks and happy hunters.
Now we call then in, and more people poach and don't check them in. What a joke, IMO.

yup, we lost our check ins....
which in my mind, allows for more poaching...
also leaving out a fun part of the experience, going to the check station, looking at the other deer, sharing stories etc...
I remember years ago going with pops and his big buck to the taxidermist, after the check stations had been eradicated, seems the taxidermist shop is the new check station for story sharing etc....
Was fun to have others saying, wow, good job, nice, also saw some other big bucks too, use to seeing some monsters which is always amazing to see, finally 1 was in the family....

Nebraska is a check in state, but it has different locations in each county. 1 is at the sheriffs office but in my town its at a gas station. Its stupid though cause they don't even come out and look at the deer. An immoral person could shoot a buck and say doe and still keep a buck tag. Needs to be a better system in my opinion.
