I have a 1 in 5,166 chance of arrowing a Pope and Young buck in Michigan this year!
For comparison:
Odds of fatally slipping in the shower: 1 in 2,232
Odds of dying from any kind of injury in the next year: 1 in 1,820
Odds that Earth will experience a catastrophic collision with an asteriod in the next 100 years: 1 in 5,000.
Odds of getting a hole in one: 1 in 5,000
Odds of catching a ball at a major league ball game: 1 in 563

Our B-ball coach is pretty good......Huggins and I think it's in his contract that he cannot ever talk to anyone from Michigan.

Just a little tidbit of info. I recently read....that makes you go Hmmmmm.
PA - # of hunters/sq. mi. = 6.08
PA - P&Y Bucks/Hunter = 1 in 3,308
MI - # of hunters/sq. mi. = 7.83
MI - # of P&Y bucks/hunter = 1 in 5,166
This survey didn't incorporate "developed" lands into the "huntable" sq. mi. equation. I just found these numbers astonishing.
If anyone knows of a full state-by-state breakdown (the article only gave numbers for the "top" five in each category), I'd love to see it.
On the flip side of these numbers were those for:
Nebraska - # of hunters/sq. mi. = .19
Nebraska - # of P&Y bucks/hunter = 1 in 335
Kansas - # of hunters/sq. mi. = .24
Kansas - # of P&Y bucks/hunter = 1 in 149
Noting that the population of PEOPLE in these last two states is low (comparatively) makes these numbers NOT seem so astounding. But they are still interesting. Also it would seem noteworthy that there are FAR more UNdeveloped lands in these states (due to overall poulation of people AND the abundance of farm lands).
Just board fodder...... The first set of numbers gives me a greater respect for the guys in those states getting it done on a consistent basis.

I hear ya, Twil....he was a beaut! I'd liketo see Rob, Dennyyou or Mattshoot him, this fall (if he made it).
Everybody always says you turn to jelly when you see a slammer.....and I can't explain why I was so calm.
Good luck with him. Rob knows where he lives....or...was that day, anyways. I actually saw two pretty good 8 pointers, that day. Rob has great places to hunt
