To me....A serious bowhunter is "one" that is confident in their equipment....loves everything about it...lives and breaths it......I don't think you need a million kills to be serious....I think its a frame of mind....and how you feel about hunting.....
I like to listen to people that:
-Enjoy the entire experience
-Have an open mind to archery regardless of the equipment
-have enough sense to listen and learn from me too and not just about them...because I will surely listen to them.
-appreciate a plump doe just like a big buck
I think we're all missing out if we're only thinking about scouting and killing that big buck...its bigger than that...right down to a cold beverage with a hunting buddy...theres more to it...then calcium...I'm rambling....BYE.![Smile](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

A serious hunter is the guy that is trying to figure out where to hang his stand while making love.![Big Grin](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

It's a personal sport, not a competetion. You are always winning if you are having Fun!![Wink](https://www.huntingnet.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)

I look at it the same way Dan. Thats the most important thing.
To me someone who is serious about bowhunting is less concerned with their own success in the sport, than contributing to the betterment and continuation of the sport itself... be that through volunteering with youth, ethical practices, conservation practices, hunter ed, etc etc. Caring about the resource and the preservation of our sport is where the "seriousness" really lies in my eyes.

I'm a serious hunter period! I don't put myself in any category of sorts, no need to, I love it all! When you start labeling and putting limits on things your losing out!

To me a "Serious" bowhunter is one who puts enough effort into things more than that of a casual nature. You don't need to be technically inclined, you don't need to be overly successful, you certainly don't need to be exclusivelly bow.
You need to make yourself proficient within your comfort range, find time in your schedule to pursue your passion and go that extra edge beyond what an average guy does.
